From South Africa, Penelope recently completed a 3-year term as President and Dean at Albany Law School. She is currently a Scholar in Residence and Consultant to the Faculty at New York Law School. In January 2016, Penelope became the Dean at the University of Cape Town Faculty of Law. An Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, Penelope is a noted human rights scholar and advocate and has considerable project and consultation experience, having consulted for the United Nations Development Fund for Women and the Ford Foundation in Johannesburg. Her international law teaching experience and extensive research and scholarship have focused on international human rights law, comparative constitutional law, gender and racial equality and the judiciary. Penelope received her Bachelor of Laws from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a Masters of Laws from the Columbia University. She joined South Africa Partners’ Board of Directors in 2015.
